How to Measure Your Spaces

Renovating surfaces with decorative vinyls is simple! To ensure the best results, it’s important to measure correctly.

Here’s how to do it, depending on the type of surface you want to decorate:

Tools You’ll Need

To measure accurately, you’ll need:

  • Flexible measuring tape | Ruler in centimeters | Measuring tape
  • Pencil
  • Paper to write down measurements

MEASUREMENTS SHOULD BE TAKEN IN CENTIMETERS OR METERS

How to Measure Based on the Surface Type

For Peel and Stick Tiles

  • If you want the grout lines to remain visible:
Choose peel and stick tiles the same size as your original tiles. This allows you to stick them one by one, keeping the same pattern with the grout lines visible.

  • If you prefer to cover the grout lines for a seamless surface:
Opt for larger peel and stick tiles that can cover multiple tiles at once.
For example, if your current tiles are 20x20 cm, select adhesive tiles measuring 40x40 cm to cover four tiles and their grout lines, achieving a uniform finish.

Steps to measure and calculate the required quantity of adhesive tiles:

  1. Measure one complete tile: Start by measuring a fully visible tile. Use a measuring tape to determine the width and height of one tile.
  2. Count the tiles in the area: With the dimensions of one tile, go to the area you want to cover and count how many full tiles are there. Simply count the visible tiles to estimate how many you’ll need.
  3. Include incomplete tiles: If there are partial tiles (on edges or corners), count each incomplete tile as a whole one to ensure you have enough material to cover the entire space.

For Walls

  1. Measure the height and width: Measure from floor to ceiling (height) and side to side (width).
  2. Add an extra margin: Add about 5 cm on each side to trim the edges once the vinyl is applied. This ensures perfect alignment.

For Floors

  1. Measure the length and width of the area: Measure the entire floor space you want to cover, making sure to measure each corner accurately.
  2. Add extra centimeters: Leave an additional 5-10 cm to allow for precise cuts at the end of the installation. This ensures perfect alignment.

For Kitchen Cabinets

  1. Measure each door or drawer separately: Write down the length and width of each surface you want to cover.
  2. Add extra for folds: Add 2-3 cm to fold the vinyl toward the interior of the cabinet or drawer, ensuring full coverage.

  2. Include the sides: Measure the height of the table edges for complete coverage.
  3. Add extra for folds: Leave 3-5 cm extra to fold the vinyl under the table, ensuring a neat and secure finish.

For Countertops

  1. Measure the top surface: Use the measuring tape to determine the length and width of the countertop’s top.
  2. Include the sides: Don’t forget to measure the height of the countertop’s edges.
  3. Add extra for folds: Include an additional 3-5 cm to fold the vinyl under the countertop for a clean, long-lasting finish.
